About the Tasmaria

The Tasmaria is family running and is the end result of Neo and Irenes' motive to create their own business, an effort dating back to the 1970's where times were different, when roads were non existent, when development was to a minimal level and when the inhabitants of the area amounted to no more than 30.

It was then when Neo believed that he could use the then track-road, that led to the Coral-
Bay Beach as more or less a restaurant for the driver and the first stone was set, the restaurant known then as "Kings Palace Restaurant" was built and rented out.

A few years later, Irene thought about building 2-3 rooms above the restaurant, before continuing by adding another 10 rooms and kept on adding until reaching the present state of 54.

The Tasmaria Hotel Apartments name derives from the two offspring of Neo and Irene, Tas and Maria and therefore, Tasmaria.

Weather in Cyprus is predictable and has the following characteristics:- July and August are the hottest months, occasionally July can be hotter than August and the weather during these months might be uncomfortably warm.

During the middle of February towards the first week of
March, for about 14 days there is usually no rain at all.
Winter in Cyprus in general, is characterized when
weather is not sunny, then having up to 1 hour of rain
& then either returning to sunny or cloudy with sunny spells.

It is a record high for Cyprus that out of 365 days a year,
300 days are sunny at least. In the last 2 years Cyprus has received rainy weather, statistics suggest that when for 2-3 years there has been rain, some 2-5 yrs of dry weather will follow with milder (sunny) winters and dry but milder in temperature Summers.

Local Tips

For the History and Culture seeker, within the Tasmaria Hotel Apts area, there are a tremendous amount of sites to see, further from the local area we would advise guests, as a necessity, to visit the Troodos Mountains, "little Switzerland" as it is known and the Kykko Monastery Museum, where the objects exhibited date back many, many years and for most of them completion took at least 5 years.

In Larnaca and Limassol are Kourion, Ancient Kition, a 13th Century Mycenean Settlement, a Neolithic town and the sanctuary of Apollo which are in very close proximity. In Nicosia you will find "Laiki Yitonia" (Folklore Neighborhood) and the Cyprus Museum, (better take a bus-excursion).

With no exaggeration, we would claim that you need more than 6 months to explore all the history available, and these listed are only a fraction of what could be of interest to you. For those interested in local culture and cuisine, Tavernas should be first on the list to visit and must be away from the tourist areas. The further you go the better local hospitality you receive.

For the Recreation seeker, Night life in Paphos is adapted to the age group of 23-70 years of age. In the Tasmaria area, the pubs and restaurants are characterised by the friendly local characters whowill amuse you and the relaxed atmosphere is enjoyable- ideal to make life long friends, along with "Cyprus-Nights" where you will enjoy local food, and free flowing local wine.

The Lighthouse beach located just 10 minutes walk from the Hotel, offers local sports such as jet-skiing and there are 2 water parks, 1 in Paphos and 1 in Limassol, which are an ideal spot for the children. Scuba-diving courses for beginners are available, 2 golf courses in the nearby area available for your golfing needs and many other excursions and day activities such as the fun-buses, Jeep-Safaris, Boat trips and other activities either for relaxation, active or beach holidays.

Above all though, the main attraction of Paphos is that all local people are warm and always keen to help, it only takes that you allow yourself to be treated in charm.
